Social Worker and Gottman Bringing Baby Home Educator

Yolande Vincent

Yolande Vincett is a qualified Social Worker and Gottman Bringing Baby Home Educator. She has worked as a mental health clinician in the public health sector for over ten years, providing treatment and support to adults experiencing mental health challenges, and has always been particularly passionate about working with women managing mental illness in motherhood.

Determined to address the unique challenges and complexities that can arise in the perinatal period for women and their families she birthed Bud and Bloom Perinatal - offering counselling for women and couples as well as education, including the Gottman Institute’s Bringing Baby Home Workshop.

  • It was the birth of her first child and personal experience of the challenges of modern-day mothering that called her to undertake further study and training to focus her work on holding and supporting fellow women.

She is driven to support women to find balance in their lives to avoid depletion and burnout, create and maintain healthy connections with others and themselves so that they may feel seen and heard, and to live with compassion to ease the critical judgements and unhelpful stories that can keep us stuck. Walking along side you through the diverse challenges that arise in parenthood, she aims to leave people feeling understood, held and empowered in their life.

Yolande has a particular interest in a woman’s intimate relationship and is passionate about supporting women and couples to learn practical evidence-based strategies and tools to prepare and repair their relationship so that it is a source of nurturing, safety and connection.

Yolande adopts a transtheoretical approach to understanding a woman’s experience; focusing on the interplay of individual, relational and systemic factors to conceptualise the presenting challenges and barriers. She works collaboratively with each woman during the assessment and formulation of her unique situation to ensure everyone has a safe place to tell her story in her own words. Her work honours the mother-baby dyad and the importance of considering and combining both mother and baby’s needs throughout treatment to ensure the best outcomes for families.

She draws on a variety of therapeutic modalities to address the challenges identified, creating an individualised action plan for change detailing the goals and interventions aimed at bringing you closer to living in alignment with your values, vision and authentic self. From this framework, she aims to empower women to see themselves as enough and to draw on their internal and external resources to bring about change, as well as learn the new skills and strategies they require.

Yolande sees great value in supporting women to develop a deep understanding of their patterns and blueprints in order to prepare, heal and train their nervous system. She firmly believes that supporting one’s nervous system is the most valuable gift you can give yourself and your family to help navigate the ebbs and flow of motherhood with more ease.

Away from work and business Yolande is a mother to three kiddos under five and dreams of hot cups of tea and quiet strolls on the beach. Her passions include home decor and styling, gardening and running- all of which are hard to find time for in this in intensive season of mothering.

  • Yolande is currently entering her third matrescence so has limited openings but, with very flexible working hours, she aims to accommodate your family’s needs as best as she can.
